Gale force winds are now constant. Eversource has shut off the mains to whole town due to a downed wire starting a fire near a gas station.

Original update: 75mph gusts. Tree down in parking lot, right on top of the spot where I normally park. Luckily I had the foresight to park away from trees today.

Good move. Now hopefully there aren’t many trees by your house.

My parents were on a cruise this week. My dad emailed me they’re pushing their return flight from Tampa to DC back by a day. I sent this email:

Apparently you have a good reason to wait:

He responded:

Yeesh. Gross. Thanks for sharing???

Where in the Northeast? I’m up in Nova Scotia and we’re supposed to get 100-110kph winds tonight and they are starting to pick up here.

I am outside DC right near National Airport and have been seeing steady 45mph winds with gusts to about 60. It’s pretty wild. The river looks nuts. Had to move my three cars and add lines to the boat so it doesn’t get beaten to death. Pretty crazy storm since it’s been blue skies all day.

Off the coast of Massachusetts. We’re in the worst of it new, it’ll probably hit you in the next few hours.

I laughed last night when they started cancelling school due to “wind”, then I woke up at 4 AM to the house shaking. Needless to say we haven’t left the house all day.

I had to go to work. We usually go by the Federal Government but for some reason they told us this time weren’t. I was there for 15 minutes before the power went out for good. Stupid. It’s silly windy.

It was nuts here last night in DC, we had to move downstairs at 330am because the trees were starting to go. Neighbor down the street got a tree right down through the roof of his Accord. It’s no joke, stay safe and if you have trees around, stay low in your house. Lots of trees in bedrooms in DC this morning.

No trees on my side of the house thank goodness but there are 3 within a 30ft radius of the house.

Yeah just keep an eye on things. It’s been very wet here, so that’s not helping the situation. Up where you are tends to get higher winds more frequently too, so the trees are less likely to come down. Still going pretty good, and it’s been blowing since midnight or so last night.
